Class Information
Forward Paws’ small classes and skilled instructor ensure a good training environment –
Small group classes –  a maximum of 6 puppies/dogs per class.
Benefit from socialising with other dogs and enjoy the dynamics of interacting while learning.
Personal attention and instruction plus hands-on exercises for the owner and the dog!
Only positive, reward-based training techniques are taught and used.
Safe rural venue for classes.
All puppies and dogs participating are fully vaccinated.
Small Group classes are held in Silverdale, Hibiscus Coast.

Puppy Class

For Puppies between 3 and 6 months of age

Understanding your canine companion and developing a well-mannered puppy.

    Duration 5 Weeks;  Fee: $130.00  

Course Content  

You will learn the skills to train your puppy to:

    Walk on-lead without pulling

    Come when called

    Sit and Down on command

    Know its place in the ‘pack’

    Home strategies

Advice provided on: nutrition, healthcare, handling, grooming, acceptable behaviour, toys,
and any other individual issues

Early Learning Class

For Puppies between 4 and 12 months of age. Also others who would benefit from this training

Understanding your canine companion and developing a well-mannered puppy.

    Duration 5 Weeks;  Fee: $130.00  

Course Content  

You will learn the skills to train your puppy to:

    Sit and Down on command

1. For Dogs older than 6 months & those that have had previous training

2. For Puppies who have attended the Puppy or Early Learning Classes

Manage day-to-day family living and receive more advanced obedience training.

Duration 5 Weeks;  Fee: $130.00   .

Course Content  

Basic commands revisited

Come when called even when distractions are introduced

Sit, Down, Stand and Stay on command – at a distance

The Wait command

Train your dog to ‘Leave’ an article

The Give command

Fun tricks to teach your dog

Scent work – a fun trick to teach your dog

Improve attention

Acceptable behaviours

Advanced Training Class

1. For Puppies and Dogs older than 6 months

2. For Puppies and Dogs who have attended the Intermediate Class

Manage day-to-day family living, good behaviour going out and about, and receive more
advanced obedience training.

    Duration 5 Weeks;  Fee: $130.00   

Course Content  

    Clicker training

    Basic commands revisited

    Come when called – difficult distraction programme

    Sit, Down, Stand and Stay on command. The Down command with owner out of site

    Instant Down at a distance

    The Stop and Wait commands

    Train your dog to ‘Leave’ food

    The Take It command

    Scent work – a fun trick to teach your dog
